![]() Anyone may obtain a copy of a complaint file upon request. Once a nuisance complaint is filed with our office it becomes a public record. Heating complaints will be given immediate attention if it is an emergency. Turnaround time is usually a week to ten days, but may be less, depending on the number of complaints received. Complaints are generally investigated in the order in which they are received. It is important the inspector be able to contact the complainant if more information is needed. The complaint form should be filled out in full. ![]() The information submitted on the complaint form is considered public information and subject to review or release to any requesting party. Exceptions are made for emergency situations such as a total loss of heat in a rental unit during freezing conditions. Citizen complaints are not accepted over the telephone. If you attempt to resolve the problem in this way, but are unsuccessful, then it may be appropriate to file a complaint.Ī complaint must be submitted online or in writing before it can be investigated. If you are a tenant in a rental unit, address your concerns first with the landlord. Address your concerns to the offending party, and try to work out a solution directly. A condition may certainly be a nuisance to you, but it may not be a public health nuisance. The enforcement ability of Miami County Public Health is limited to conditions which threaten the public health. Ask yourself if the nuisance condition is health related. Some examples of nuisance and housing conditions may include improper storage of garbage accumulation of animal wastes rodents sewage odors or presence of sewage on the ground dilapidated living conditions and lack of heat in a residence.Ī concerned citizen should take the following two steps prior to filing a formal complaint with Miami County Public Health: I ask that MCAS use reasonable efforts to give me advance notice of any such use, but such notification is not a condition to release photographs for public relations purposes.The purpose of the Miami County Public Health Housing and Nuisance Program is to protect the community against public health housing or nuisance conditions that could adversely affect the health and welfare of persons in the community. ![]() Understanding that public relations are an important part of a Volunteer’s activities on behalf of MCAS, I hereby authorize MCAS to use any photographs of me in its possession for public relations purposes.On behalf of myself, and my heirs, personal representatives and assigns, I hereby release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless MCAS and its directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all claims, causes of action, and demands of any nature, whether known or unknown, arising out of or in connection with my volunteer activities on behalf of MCAS. I understand that the handling of animals and other Volunteer activities on behalf of MCAS may place me in a hazardous situation and could result in injury to me or my personal property.I agree not to post any pictures or information regarding any animals at the Miami County Animal Shelter on any rescue website.I understand that MCAS, without notice or hearing, may terminate my services as a Volunteer at any time, with or without reason.I will adhere strictly to these standards in my capacity as a Volunteer. In particular, I fully understand that MCAS expects high standards of moral and ethical treatment of the animals under its care. I will familiarize myself and comply with MCAS’s policies and procedures applicable to Volunteers.My services are furnished without any employment-type benefits, including employment insurance programs, worker’s compensation accrual in any form, vacations, or sick time.My services to MCAS are provided strictly in a voluntary capacity as a Volunteer and without any express or implied promise of salary, compensation, or other payment of any kind whatsoever.
